There has been some speculation and discussion about whether Eminem had an obsession with Mariah Carey. The rumours began to circulate in the early 2000s after Eminem and Mariah were rumoured to have been in a brief romantic relationship.

However, Mariah has denied these claims, and Eminem has continued to suggest that they were involved in some way.

In some of his music, Eminem has referenced Mariah, sometimes in a negative or confrontational way. For example, in his song “Superman,” Eminem raps about a woman who won’t let him go and who he says is Mariah Carey.

Similarly, in his song “Bagpipes from Baghdad,” Eminem makes derogatory comments about Mariah and her then-husband, Nick Cannon. These lyrics have been interpreted by some as a sign of an unhealthy or obsessive preoccupation with Mariah.

The back-and-forth through songs continued with “Clown” on Carey’s album Charmbracelet. She also released the song Obsessed from her twelfth studio album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel (2009).

At the time of the song’s release, critics and the media suggested Carey was aiming it at Eminem, who had negatively referenced her several times in his songs. Eminem released a song called “The Warning” in response.
