Did Emilia Jones actually sing in CODA?

English singer, Emilia Jones who played the lead role of Ruby Rossi in CODA, had never sung in a movie, however, she learned how to sing and began practicing prior to shooting the film.

Born on February 23, 2002, Emilia Jones began her acting career in 2010 when she was just 8 years old. Her debut film was her role as Jasmine in One Day.

During the early stages of her career, she starred in a few movies and tv shows including Utopia, Doctor Who, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, and more.

Jones made her theatrical debut when she played young Princess Fiona in the original production of Shrek The Musical at the Theatre Royal, Dury Lane in 2011. She also starred in The Turn of the Screw by Henry James.

She was cast as Kinsey Locke, one of the main characters in the Netflix fantasy drama series Locke & Key in 2018.

Jones bagged one of her biggest roles by far when she starred as Ruby Rossi in the Apple TV+ comedy-drama film CODA. She played as the only hearing member of her family who dreams of going to Berklee.

To play the role very well, she learned American Sign Language (ASL) for nine months while also learning how to operate a professional fishing trawler. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 28, 2021, where it was bought by Apple Original Films for $25 million. It is the first Sundance production film to win an Academy Award for Best Picture.
