Cynthia Lennon was born in Blackpool, England on 10 September 1939 as the youngest of three children to General Electric Company employee Charles Powell and his wife Lillian Roby.

Cynthia Lennon has two brothers named Charles and Anthony. At the age of 11, Cynthia Lennon won an art prize in a competition organised by the Liverpool Echo.

Cynthia Lennon was later accepted into Liverpool’s Junior Art School and in September 1957, she gained a place at the Liverpool College of Art. She rose to prominence following her relationship with John Lennon.

Cynthia Lennon’s husband, John Lennon was an English singer, songwriter, musician and peace activist. He was born John Winston Ono Lennon on October 9, 1940, in Liverpool, the United Kingdom at Liverpool Maternity Hospital to Julia Stanley and Alfred Lennon.

John Lennon had 25 number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. He was voted eighth in a BBC history poll of the 100 Greatest Britons in the year 2002. He was ranked by Rolling Stone as the fifth-greatest singer and thirty-eighth greatest artist of all time.

John Lennon was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame (in 1997) and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (twice, as a member of the Beatles in 1988 and as a solo artist in 1994.

Cynthia Lennon and John Lennon were married on 23 August 1962 at the Mount Pleasant register office in Liverpool. Their son, Julian was born on 8 April 1963, in Sefton Hospital.
