On 5 July 2020, Adams scored his first goal for Southampton, a 40-yard effort looping over the goalkeeper in a 1–0 victory over Manchester City. Adams was called up for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Austria, Israel, and the Faroe Islands.

Che Adams was named in the 26-man squad for the delayed UEFA Euro 2020 competition and became the first non-white footballer to play for the Scotland men’s senior team in the finals of a major tournament.
