Oliveira did not make weight today. However, the defending champion Charles Oliveira failed to make the 155-pound weight limit at the weigh-in on Friday, May 6. Oliveira’s title will be stripped, and he will be ineligible to reclaim it in the main event.

Oliveira started out weighing 156 pounds. In a subsequent attempt, he stripped naked but was still a half-pound over the strict 155-pound weight limit.

Oliveira is the first fighter in UFC history to have his title stripped, and he is no longer the UFC lightweight champion. The Brazilian was supposed to defend his title against Justin Gaethje in UFC 274 on Saturday, May 7. The fight will go on, but only Gaethje is eligible to win the championship because he weighed 155 pounds.
Olivera holds several UFC records, including the most submission wins in the organization’s history (15) and the most finishes (18). He is ranked #5 in the UFC men’s pound-for-pound rankings as of December 13, 2021.
