Dianne Feinstein, an American politician and the oldest member of the United States Senate died on Friday, September 29 2023 at the age of 90.

Her cause of death has not been revealed. Information about her death was released by to two persons familiar with the situation.
Dianne Feinstein’s death leaves her important Senate seat vacant, necessitating the appointment of a temporary replacement by Gov. Gavin Newsom.

She paved the way for women in politics as she progressed through the ranks. After two failed mayoral runs, she was elected president of San Francisco’s board of supervisors in 1978, becoming the city’s first female mayor.

Dianne Feinstein was elected to the United States Senate in a special election in 1992. She is the state’s senior senator and the state’s first female U.S. senator. Feinstein has received five re-elections.
She was the first woman to lead the Senate Rules Committee and the Senate Intelligence Committee, as well as the first woman to preside over a presidential inauguration in the United States.
Feinstein headed the Senate Intelligence Committee from 2009 to 2015 and was the Senate Judiciary Committee’s ranking member from 2017 to 2021.
