Despite the severity of the incident, sources close to the matter state that Chauvin is currently in a “stable” condition, and medical experts expect him to survive.

Chauvin’s troubled history in law enforcement, marked by 18 official complaints and involvement in three police shootings, one of which was fatal, has been a subject of scrutiny.

His controversial actions came to a head on May 25, 2020, when he knelt on George Floyd’s neck for approximately nine minutes during an arrest, leading to Floyd’s tragic death and sparking widespread protests in the United States and beyond.

Following his dismissal from the Minneapolis Police Department on May 26, Chauvin was arrested on May 29, and subsequent legal proceedings led to his conviction on April 20, 2021, for unintentional second-degree murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter in Floyd’s case. On June 25, he was sentenced to 22 and a half years in prison.
