Denny Laine was famous as a founder of two iconic bands: the Moody Blues (1964-1966) and Wings (1971-1981).

His musical journey commenced with the Moody Blues in 1964, where he played a pivotal role until 1966. The band’s early success with the chart-topping “Go Now” laid the foundation for Laine’s remarkable career.

However, it was in 1971 that he embarked on a new chapter, co-founding Wings alongside Paul McCartney, a partnership that would shape the sound of the ’70s with hits like “Live and Let Die,” “Jet,” and “Band on the Run.”

From 1997 to 2002, he toured with the rock supergroup World Classic Rockers, demonstrating his adaptability and enduring appeal.

Post-Wings, Laine’s solo career flourished, with his final solo release being the 2008 album “The Blue Musician.” Not confined to traditional musical pursuits, he also ventured into theatrical territory, writing a musical titled “Arctic Song.”

Laine’s eclectic journey continued as he embraced new challenges. In 2018, he performed with the nine-piece band Turkuaz, showcasing the timeless music of Wings.

That same year, the culmination of his contributions to the Moody Blues was acknowledged with his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

In January 2023, Laine, at the age of 79, was still actively engaged in his craft. He had announced tour dates in the US, and hinted at new material for an upcoming album. He however, passed in December.
