Debbie Reynolds Third Husband: Meet Richard Hamlett

American actress, singer, and businesswoman Debbie Reynolds married Richard Hamlett in 1984, marking her third marriage.

Richard Hamlett was a real estate developer, and their union was filled with both hope and challenges. They were married for 12 years, from 1984 to 1996

According to the New York Post, Reynolds met Hamlett in 1983 at a party while filming a television special in Reno, Nevada. Throughout their marriage, Reynolds financially assisted Hamlett in opening a small hotel and casino, which failed, leaving her bankrupt – and thus the end of their relationship.

In her 2013 memoir Unsinkable, she wrote about Hamlett, “I’d married the devil.” The couple last spoke in a bankruptcy court more than a decade ago, but Hamlet said he called Reynolds to check on her after Fisher died.

“The next thing I knew, she was in the hospital,” Hamlett said. It’s heartbreaking to lose both her and Carrie.” He said: “She was a sweet, sweet girl. She loved her kids so much. For her to lose Carrie, that would have been too much. She died of a broken heart, that’s exactly what happened to her.”
