Dean’s late father, Al Evason, left an indelible mark on the hockey community as a member of the Flin Flon Warriors, a team that achieved recognition with their induction into the Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame in October 2020.

Sadly, Al Evason passed away on May 11, 2019, prior to the Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame induction. Despite his quiet demeanor, Al’s legacy lives on, not only in the accolades he received but also in the values and skills he passed on to his sons.

Dean, along with his brother, had the honor of being inducted alongside their father into the Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame, a poignant moment that carried the weight of Al’s enduring influence.

Dean emphasized the pivotal role his mother, Sheila, played in the family’s success. While Al’s genetics played a part, Dean credited Sheila’s toughness as the completing factor in shaping the family’s legacy.

In the complex world of professional sports, the Evason family story stands as a testament to the profound impact of quiet determination, exceptional athleticism, and unwavering familial support.

Al Evason’s presence, though no longer physical, continues to resonate in the achievements and character of his sons, echoing the sentiment that true greatness extends beyond the arena and into the hearts of those who carry the legacy forward.
