Superstar Afrobeat singer Davido Adeleke has recounted how his father, Adedeji Adeleke, urged him to take legal action against a Kenyan media outlet, K24, for their April Fools’ Day prank about his arrest.

On April 1st, K24 published a fake story on their website claiming that Davido was arrested at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. The report alleged that illegal drugs were found on his private plane following his performance at Kenya’s Raha Festival.
Initially, many dismissed the prank due to its timing on April Fool’s Day. However, the article gained traction, leading to attention from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), who labeled it as a hoax.

Despite initially considering letting the matter slide, Davido changed his mind after his father intervened. Adedeji Adeleke expressed concerns about the damaging impact of the false news on Davido’s reputation, as well as potential security issues during his travels to other countries.
In a TikTok video shared by @musicindustryblueprint, Davido acknowledged his father’s advice and decision to pursue legal action against the media outlet responsible for spreading the misinformation.
