David Smith Wife: Who is June Smith?

David Smith was married to June Smith. David and his wife June and their young family moved to Canberra from Melbourne in 1957 and made it their home.

He didn’t speak much about his wife hence, there isn’t much information about her.

David retired in 1991 and was a stalwart of Australians for Constitutional Monarchy.

Smith began his career in the Australian Public Service in 1953 and was later appointed Private Secretary to the Minister for interior and Works from 1958 until 1963.

He was then appointed Secretary to the Federal Executive Council and head of the Government Branch, Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, from 1972 to 1973.

He was a delegate to the constitutional convention ahead of the referendum on the republic and was a regular sparring partner with republican and future PM, Malcolm Turnbull.
