American writer, storyteller, lecturer, and popular historian David Gaub McCullough. He received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor bestowed by the United States, as well as the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award twice.

Ruth and Christian Hax McCullough gave birth to him in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania’s Point Breeze area.
McCullough married Rosalee Barnes in 1954; they had first connected when they were youngsters.
They were together until her passing in June 2022. The couple has five kids together.
Three of his five children currently reside in Hingham, Massachusetts, after the couple relocated there in 2016 from Boston’s Back Bay. He owned a vacation property in Camden, Maine.

After moving from Boston’s Back Bay to Hingham, Massachusetts, in 2016, three of his five children; David McCullough Jr., Dorie Lawson, and Melissa McDonald are currently residing there. He had a getaway home in Camden, Maine.
His son, David Jr., an English teacher at Wellesley High School in the Boston suburbs, achieved sudden fame in 2012 when he gave a commencement speech in which he repeatedly told graduating students that they were “not special”;
his speech went viral on YouTube. Another son, Bill, is married to the daughter of former Florida governor Bob Graham.
