David Hilditch: Long-serving DUP Assembly member dies aged 60

Hilditch’s tenure as an MLA spanned 25 years, a remarkable feat that spoke to his resilience and commitment to public service.

Distinguished Service in the Assembly

During his time in the Northern Ireland Assembly, Hilditch was a distinguished member known for his thoughtful contributions.

He was one of the top questioners during the 1998–2003 Assembly, actively participating in committees that addressed crucial issues in Northern Ireland.

His work in the Employment and Learning Committee and the Culture Arts and Leisure Committee showcased his dedication to promoting the interests of his community.

Hilditch’s commitment to public service extended beyond his political duties. He served as the vice-chair of the Social Development Committee and was a member of the Standards and Privileges Committee and the Employment and Learning Committee.

In addition to his political career, David Hilditch was deeply passionate about sports and culture. He served as the secretary of Carrick Rangers Football Club, demonstrating his enthusiasm for the local sports scene.
