Who Was David Hilditch?

David Hilditch was a prominent figure in Northern Irish politics and a dedicated member of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP).

Serving as a Member of the Northern Ireland Assembly (MLA) for East Antrim, Hilditch’s career was characterized by a steadfast commitment to public service and a deep-rooted connection to his constituency.

His journey in politics began when he was elected as an MLA for East Antrim in 1998. Over the years, he demonstrated unwavering dedication to his constituents and his party, earning the respect and trust of those he served.

During his time in the Northern Ireland Assembly, Hilditch stood out as one of the top questioners during the 1998–2003 Assembly, where he actively participated in committees that addressed key issues in Northern Ireland.

He was involved in the Employment and Learning Committee and the Culture Arts and Leisure Committee, where he worked tirelessly to promote the interests of his community.

Hilditch’s commitment to public service extended beyond his political duties. He served as the vice-chair of the Social Development Committee and was a member of the Standards and Privileges Committee and the Employment and Learning Committee.

In addition to his political career, Hilditch served as the secretary of Carrick Rangers Football Club, highlighting his enthusiasm for the local sports scene.

Hilditch’s enduring popularity among his constituents was evident in the 2017 Assembly election, where he was re-elected on the first count.

He was elected for a fifth term during the 2022 Assembly election.
