David Choe Parents: Meet Jane Choe, Jimmy Choe

David Choe is an American artist, musician, actor, former journalist, and podcast host.

David Choe was born in the city of Los Angeles, California to Jane Choe and Jimmy Choe.  His parents are Korean immigrants who have become Christians.

Jane Choe, David’s mother, is a painter as well as an excellent chef. She is based in Los Angeles, California, and her customers commission her to create paintings, drawings, installations, and video art. She also works with life-size and wall-sized canvas paintings.

Jane’s artworks are inspired by her childhood and the toys and games she played as a child in South Korea. According to her personal website, she also draws inspiration from the Bible and Biblical creatures and characters because she is a devout Christian.

Jimmy Choe, David’s father, has mostly avoided the spotlight. Jimmy has no public social media accounts and does not appear on the internet through his wife’s or son’s accounts.

David Choe grew up in the Los Angeles neighbourhood of Koreatown. He’s been spray painting on the streets since he was a teenager. He attended the California College of the Arts for a short time.

David Choe has illustrated and written for publications such as Hustler, Ray Gun, and Vice. He is still involved with the Asian pop culture store-cum-magazine Giant Robot.
