English football player David Armstrong played with Middlesbrough for the entirety of his career (from 1972 to 1981).

He played with Southampton for an additional six seasons following his August 1981 departure from Middlesbrough. Armstrong passed away on August 21, 2022. He finished his league career in 1987–1988 with AFC Bournemouth.
He was a part of the Middlesbrough team coached by Jack Charlton in the 1970s, which won the Second Division title and was a solid Division One team for most of the decade.
Towards the end of his time at Middlesbrough, he received his first England cap. Armstrong was well renowned at Ayresome Park for his amazing tenacity.
