David John Rainford is an English former footballer. He now works for the Premier League. Rainford left Dagenham & Redbridge at the end of the 2007–08 season after he was offered a senior teaching role at a local school.

During the 2007–08 season, Rainford had become known for being the only semi-professional player in the Football League.
In June 2008 Rainford joined Chelmsford City. On 8 June 2012, he was confirmed as their assistant manager following the departure of Ben Chenery.
Rainford has a daughter, Molly, who was a finalist in the 2012 series of Britain’s Got Talent.

Dave Rainford died in Withington on March 7, 2020. He apparently died of persistent heart illness, according to rumors.
After fans raised suspicions about his absence from the Eggheads show in 2019, he acknowledged having been suffering undetected illness months prior.
He managed to attend a number of charity events and compete in the Withington Pub Quiz League even though he struggled with health concerns that worsened over time.
