David Martinez is a former baseball outfielder and current coach cum manager for the Washington Nationals of the MLB.

Born on September 26, 1964, in Brooklyn New York, Martinez schooled in Florida, at Lake Howell High School, where he played baseball and won the Five Star Conference championship in 1981.

He then played college baseball at Valencia Community College.

Martinez’s MLB playing career saw him play for the Chicago Cubs, Montreal Expos, Cincinnati Reds, San Francisco Giants, Chicago White Sox, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Texas Rangers, Toronto Blue Jays, and Atlanta Braves from 1986 to 2001.

He had finished his career with a .276 batting average, 1,599 hits, 91 home runs, 795 runs scored, and 580 runs batted in.

Martinez stated his coaching career bench coaching the Rays in 2008, and later the Chicago Cubs, leading his team to the World Series championship.

In 2017, Martinez signed a three-year managerial contract with the Washington Nationals, with a club option for the 2021 season.
