Dave Chappelle Attacker Aftermath

Isaiah Lee, a 23-year-old man, was charged with attempting to attack Dave Chappelle at his Hollywood Bowl show on May 3 after storming on stage armed with a knife and tackling the comedian.

Isaiah Lee is currently being held in the custody of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department on a single felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon. Bail has been set at $30,000 for him. Lee’s motivation for the attack is unknown. Police haven’t determined where he lives or whether he went to the show alone.

Lee stormed the stage as Chappelle joked about having to beef up his security after making trans jokes at the Netflix is a Joke festival. According to the cops, the attacker was armed with a gun that concealed a knife. It’s unclear whether he was searched upon entering the venue or how he gained access to the stage.

Chappelle was unharmed and continued the show.
