Ward has previously played for Liverpool and Wrexham, as well as having loan spells at Tamworth, Morecambe, Aberdeen and Huddersfield Town.

In November 2022, he was named to the Wales squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. He made his World Cup debut on November 25, 2022, against Iran.
