Danny Javier Obituary

Danny Javier was a singer-songwriter, musician, actor, television host, and businessman from the Philippines. He attended San Beda and Ateneo de Manila Universities.

Along with Boboy Garrovillo and Jim Paredes, he was a member and lead vocalist of the popular musical trio The APO Hiking Society.

He coined the term “OPM,” which originally referred to the Music of the Philippines and Philippine pop songs, particularly ballads, as well as any musical composition created by a Filipino that became popular in the Philippines from the late 1970s to the present.

Danny Javier died on Monday, October 31, 2022, after a long illness, his close friends in show business confirmed. He was 75. Javier was a survivor of kidney failure, pneumonia, emphysema, heart failure, hepatitis and sepsis.

His daughter Justine Javier Long confirmed the death on Facebook, according to GMA News.

“In life, as in his death, our Pop never stopped fighting for what he loved, what he believed in and what he was passionate about. He left this world with his passion and his strength of will intact and we know he would not have it any other way,” Justine wrote.
