The darkest chapter in Danny’s life unfolded in 1989 when he committed an unspeakable act that would forever haunt the small town of St. Joseph, Minnesota.
On October 22, 1989, he abducted 11-year-old Jacob Wetterling, who was riding his bike with friends.
Likewise, in a nearby town, Cold Spring, he abducted and sexually assaulted another young boy, 12-year-old Jared Scheierl. These horrific crimes had sent shockwaves through Minnesota.
Surprisingly, Danny also had a brief stint in the Minnesota National Guard. He joined in Willmar in 1982 but was honorably discharged in the early 1990s.
While Danny may be behind bars, the memory of his crimes continues to haunt those who were touched by the events that transpired in the late 1980s.
