Portuguese-American actress Daniela Ruah is the daughter of Moisés Carlos Bentes Ruah and Catarina Lia Katia Azancot Korn.

Daniela Ruah was born in Boston, Massachusetts, to Portuguese-Jewish parents. Her mother is an otologist and her father is an ENT surgeon.
Ruah’s family returned to Portugal when she was five years old, where she attended St Julian’s School and, at the age of 16, began acting in telenovelas.

Daniela Ruah moved to the United Kingdom at the age of 18 and graduated from London Metropolitan University with a Bachelor of Arts in performing arts. She returned to Portugal to continue her acting career before moving to New York City in 2007 to study at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute.
Ruah stated that she grew up in a Sephardic and Ashkenazi environment; her father is of Portuguese-Jewish ancestry, and her mother’s Jewish roots are in Russia, Ukraine, and Portugal. She is both Portuguese and American.
