Former football star Dani Alves has been released from prison after posting a hefty €1 million (£850,000) bail bond.

This development comes following his recent conviction for rape, where he was sentenced to jail time.

Alves, aged 40 and a father of two, fulfilled the conditions set by the three judges overseeing his case, including surrendering his Spanish and Brazilian passports.

He regained his freedom just before the anticipated time of around 5 p.m. local time.

As part of his bail terms, Alves will be required to visit the court once a week to maintain his liberty.

However, not everyone is in favor of Alves being granted release on bail. His ex-wife, Santana, took to Instagram to express her discontent, likening the situation to having to share a table with Judas.

Initially supportive of Alves, Santana later stated that she felt she had been “used” and asserted that, to her, he no longer exists.

Alves had made previous attempts to secure bail before his conviction, all of which were rejected due in part to concerns about him being a flight risk.

Despite securing bail, Alves still faces the aftermath of his conviction and the consequences of his actions.
