Danai Gurira is an actress and playwright of American and Zimbabwean descent, best known for her role in the AMC horror drama series The Walking Dead.
Born in Grinnell, Iowa, on February 14, 1978, Gurira graduated from Dominican Convent High School.
She completed her undergraduate degree in psychology at Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

Gurira received a Tony Award nomination for writing the Broadway play Eclipsed.

In the MCU superhero movies Black Panther (2018), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame, Gurira starred as Okoye.
Gurira has also received numerous awards, including a Helen Hayes Award, an Obie Award, and an Outer Critics Circle Award.
