Dan Flynn Obituary

Dan Flynn was a businessman and rancher from Van, Texas, who served in the Texas House of Representatives for District 2 from 2003 to 2021.

Dan Flynn was defeated in his re-election bid by Bryan Slaton in the Republican primary runoff on July 14, 2020.

Dan Flynn also spent a significant amount of his life in the military, including the United States Army, the Texas Army National Guard, and the Texas State Guard.

He joined the Texas State Guard in 2005 and has served on active duty for the state in response to numerous natural disasters. Governor Greg Abbott promoted him to brigadier general in 2016.

Dan Flynn passed died Friday, October 28, 2022, morning. He was 79. “Chairman, Representative, and Brigadier General Dan Flynn died peacefully this morning,” the Flynn family said in a Facebook post on his campaign page.

The cause of death was not stated in the post. The funeral arrangements for Flynn have not been made public.
