Dame Rosemary (Rosie) Horton was a well-known philanthropist and tireless fundraiser in New Zealand.

She was born on March 25, 1940, and died in Auckland on the weekend of May 13-14, 2023.

Horton was a trustee and patron of the Starship Foundation, as well as the creator of Friends of Starship in Auckland, which Horton called “the love of my life.”

She was also a patron of the Gut Cancer Foundation and the Rautakauri Music Therapy Trust, among other organizations.

Horton had helped raise cash for life-saving equipment at Starship Children’s Hospital, including the country’s first pediatric bone marrow transplant center.
