Dame Rosie Horton cause of death

Dame Rosie Horton’s cause of death – Dame Rosemary (Rosie) Horton, one of New Zealand’s most prominent philanthropists and indefatigable fundraisers, has died. Horton was born on March 25, 1940, and died in Auckland on the weekend of May 13-14, 2023. The cause of death is yet to be determined.

The Breast Cancer Foundation issued a statement in memory of its patron, founding trustee, and former chairman, who died over the weekend in Auckland City Hospital.

Horton was a founding trustee of the Auckland-based Starship Foundation and Friends of Starship.

She also founded the New Zealand Breast Cancer Fund and has donated to Women’s Refuge, the SPCA, and the Salvation Army.

Horton’s mother died of breast cancer in February 1963, when Horton was almost 23. Horton worked in the library at UEB, a huge corporate enterprise in Auckland, at the time.

Horton, 83, raised millions of dollars for a number of organizations, many of which benefited children and women, and was appointed a Dame Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2011 for her philanthropic services.
