In a statement, Adeniyi described the accusations as lacking credibility and labeled the source as unreliable.
The controversy arose from an online news outlet claiming Adeniyi had manipulated his age to continue working beyond the mandatory retirement age, citing supposed official documents.
Adeniyi refuted this, pointing out that the article failed to provide any clear evidence such as screenshots of the alleged documents.

He criticized the report for inconsistency, noting conflicting statements within its own paragraphs.
According to Adeniyi, the article suggested contradictory reasons for the alleged falsification, implying it was aimed at keeping him in service both by adjusting his age and years of service.
However, he emphasized that no concrete proof accompanied these claims.
Adeniyi concluded by stating his commitment to focusing on his role as head of the Nigeria Customs Service, dismissing the allegations as a potential distraction from his duties.
