The late Curt Simmons was an American professional baseball left-handed pitcher, with Major League Baseball (MLB) history from 1947 to 1950 and 1952 to 1967.

Curt Simmons is known as one of the twin anchors of the starting rotation of the “Whiz Kids”, the Philadelphia Phillies’ 1950 National League (NL) championship team.
Curt Simmon was born on May 19th, 1929 in Whitehall Township, Pennsylvania, situated in the Lehigh Valley region of eastern Pennsylvania.
He was the last living member of the Phillies in the 1940s and the last living member of the 1950 Phillies National League pennant-winning team.
Curt Simmons was a 1993 inductee. He was the first to be selected to the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 1968 and later the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame in 2011. He was also an alumnus of Whitehall High School, where he built his career.

Curt Simmons died on 13th December 2022 at the age of 93. He died at his Ambler, Pa., home on Tuesday.
Per the reports given by his daughter Susan D’Acquisto, Curt Simmons had a hip replacement years ago. This had been compromised and caused him to become bedridden and ultimately debilitated. After battling this for some years, he gave up on his life on 13th December 2022.
Curt Simons was married to the late Dorothy Ludwig Simmons who passed away in 2012. They are survived by three children, Timothy, Thomas, and Susan D’Acquisto. He also has seven grandchildren.
Details on his funeral arrangements have not yet been disclosed. Updates will be made accordingly as soon as visitations and places of funeral and burial are made public.
