Iconic jazz music producer, Creed Taylor, passed away on August 23, 2022. He was aged 93.

Taylor is survived by family members and business associates.

Funeral arrangements for the late record producer will be communicated to the public in due time.

Who Was Creed Taylor?

Taylor was the first jazz record producer and the brain behind the labels Impulse! and CTI. He popularized bossa nova.

Born on May 13, 1929,  Taylor founded the CTI Records in 1967.

He did a number of productions at Bethlehem Records, ABC-Paramount Records, Verve, and A&M Records.

Back in the 60s, he had signed bossa nova artists from Brazil including Antonio Carlos Jobim, Eumir Deodato, João Gilberto, Astrud Gilberto, and Airto Moreira, all who came to record in America.

He had toured Europe together with his CTO band and produced a live album.

The jazz he introduced in the 1950s is notable for its a mixture of harmonic sound, thought, and picture.

Taylor won several Grammy Awards during his lifetime.

Some of his award-winning productions include Focus, Desafinado, Conversations with Myself, The Girl from Ipanema, Willow Weep for Me, and First Light.

Taylor may have been married before his death, but his wife and children are not mentioned anywhere.
