This decision extends the Chief Justice’s earlier ruling allowing media houses to livestream the hearing of Richard Sky’s injunction application on the same bill.
The Judicial Service has broadened access to all cases linked to the anti-LGBTQ+ bill, responding to a request from the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame.
Dame emphasized the substantial public interest in the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, also known as the anti-LGBTQ+ bill, in a letter to the Chief Justice.

“In light of the public interest in the cases concerning the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill 2024 (the Bill), I recommend that the media (including radio and television) be granted full access to the relevant courts to cover all proceedings in those cases related to the Bill,” Dame wrote.

He stressed that transparency in these proceedings would enhance the administration of justice, particularly as they involve both the Supreme Court and High Court.
Currently, four cases pertaining to the anti-LGBTQ+ bill are underway at various court levels. Two cases are slated for the High Court, with another two at the Supreme Court. One of the High Court cases is scheduled for June 3, 2024 in the General Jurisdiction 8 courtroom.
