Born and raised in New York, Corey Stoll studied drama at Long Lake Camp for the Arts from 1988 to 1992. He then graduated from Oberlin College in 1998 and subsequently attended the Graduate Acting Program at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, graduating in 2003.
Corey Stoll commenced his acting career in 2001 with the film Okénka (2001).

In 2005, he made his first feature film appearance with a minor role in North Country and shot to fame by playing Ernest Hemingway in the romantic comedy film Midnight in Paris (2011).
Stoll has since starred in over 50 films and tv series including Law & Order: LA (2010–2011), House of Cards (2013–2016), The Strain (2014–2017), First Man (2018), The Report (2019), Baghdad Central (2020), The Many Saints of Newark (2021), Billions (2020–2022), What We Do Next (2022), and many others.
He received a Golden Globe nomination for his outstanding performance as Congressman Russo in the series House of Cards and an Independent Spirit Award nomination in Midnight in Paris.
