Conrad Murray Parents: Milta Murray and Rawle Andrews

Conrad Robert Murray is a former cardiologist from Grenada. Murray was born on February 19, 1953, in Grenada to Milta Murray and Rawle Andrews

Conrad Murray was raised by his maternal grandparents, who were farmers, until he was seven years old, when he moved to Trinidad and Tobago to join his mother, Milta.

He grew up poor in Trinidad and Tobago’s capital, Port of Spain. He didn’t meet his father, Rawle Andrew, a physician, until he was 25 years old.

Andrew, who died in 2001, dedicated his life to providing medical care to the poor. Murray completed high school and briefly worked as a volunteer elementary school teacher in Trinidad.

Murray moved to Houston, Texas, where his father worked, in 1973 to attend Texas Southern University, where he earned a magna cum laude degree in pre-med and biological sciences.

Murray continued his education at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee, the same school his father attended and the first African American medical school in the Southern United States.

He began his residency in internal medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Murray finished it at California’s Loma Linda University Medical Center. After that, he went on to complete a cardiology fellowship at the University of Arizona.
