Colorado Avalanche Wins Stanley Cup Finals Game 1

The Colorado Avalanche are three wins away from being the champions of the 2022 Stanley Cup title. This is after a 4-3 overtime win over the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 1 of the final on Wednesday.

Andre Burakovsky found the net at 1:23 in the extra time to win the match making it his second goal of these playoffs.

Gabriel Landeskog with Colorados opened the game by scoring at 7:47 into the first period. The Avalanche then gave a second goal from Valeri Nichushkin at 9:23.

However, that wasn’t a simple win for them as Tampa Bay answered at 12:23 with a goal by  Nick Paul to make it 2-1. The Avalanche responded again with a goal from Artturi Lehkonen at 7:31.

Fast forward, the teams entered overtime tied at 3-3. The Avalanche had 74 shot attempts through regulation, while the lightning had 58. Colorado is now 4-1 this postseason overtime.

Game 2 is Saturday 8 pm ET.
