Former coach for the Bristol Rovers Colin Dobson died on February 17, 2023, at the age of 82.

Dobson is survived by family and friends.

Tributes have poured in from across the globe for the former Huddersfield and Sheffield player.

“We were saddened to learn of the passing of former Rovers player and coach Colin Dobson”, Bristol Rovers had said in a statement.

Colin Dobson Life And Career

Dobson was born on May 9, 1940, in United Kingdom, and had a long career as a player and a coach, both domestically and in Arabian teams.

His career began with Sheffield in 1961, where he appeared in 193 games, and recorded 52 goals.

In 1966, Colin was traded to Huddersfield Town for a £20,000 and went on to help the club win the Second Division title.

Colin subsequently played for Brighton & Hove Albion, before joining Bristol Rovers as coach.

His playing career shows a record of 103 goals in 398 league appearances, plus two caps won for the England under-23s.

As a coach, he managed the Bahraini club West Riffa, Qatari club Al Rayyan, Kuwaiti side Al Arabi, the Oman under-17s, Coventry City, Port Vale, Aston Villa, Sporting Lisbon, Gillingham, Stoke City, and Watford.
