Colin Cantwell Obituary

Colin Cantwell, the creative and artistic designer of the iconic Star Wars spaceship, passed away on May 21, 2022, at his home in Colorado. he was aged 90.

The news was announced by his long-time partner, Sierra Dall.

Colin has made iconic designs with photographic elements and graphics design for several notable films such as A Space Odyssey, Encounters of the Third Kind, and WarGames.

In Star Wars, Colin was responsible for the construction of the prototypes for the X-wing, TIE fighter, Star Destroyer, and the Death Star.

Colin has also written two science fiction novels, CoreFires 1 and CoreFires 2.

Colin was born in San Francisco and completed his first degree in Animation at the University of California, Los Angeles.

He then proceeded to the School of Architecture, upon invitation by Frank Lloyd Wright.

After graduation, Colin worked at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and NASA.

Colin is survived by Sierra Dall, his partner of 24 years.
