Hodgson’s impressive hockey career has seen him play at various levels, including a notable stint with the Brampton Battalion of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) for four seasons. His exceptional skills on the ice were recognized when he was selected as the tenth overall pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft by the Vancouver Canucks.

During his time with the Brampton Battalion, Hodgson achieved remarkable accolades, including the William Hanley Trophy for the OHL’s most sportsmanlike player, the Red Tilson Trophy for OHL player of the year, the CHL Player of the Year Award, and earning First Team All-Star honors for the 2008–09 season.

In 2009, Hodgson faced a setback due to a back injury sustained during off-season training, leading to a one-year hiatus from hockey to ensure a full recovery. He made his professional rookie season debut in 2010–11 with the Canucks’ minor league affiliate, the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League (AHL), and also participated in the Canucks’ journey to the 2011 Stanley Cup Finals.

The trajectory of Hodgson’s career took a turn in 2012 when he was traded to the Buffalo Sabres at the 2012 trade deadline. Unfortunately, in 2016, Cody Hodgson announced his retirement after being diagnosed with malignant hyperthermia.

In a surprising turn of events, Hodgson unretired in 2024, underlining his enduring passion for the game. He signed a tryout with the Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL, marking his return to professional hockey. As of now, Cody Hodgson focuses on his hockey comeback, and the information available does not indicate any children in his life.
