In the five-round main event of TPF27, held at Tachi Palace in Lemoore, California on May 19, 2016, Gibson went on to defeat Rolando Velasco by unanimous decision to claim the Tachi Palace Fights Bantamweight title: Mayhem.
It was announced in September 2016 that Gibson would defend his TPF title against Kyle Reyes at Tachi Palace Fights 29 on November 3. Gibson prevailed over his opponent via second-round knockout.

Gibson will upgrade to a higher weight class on May 18 to compete against Adrian Diaz for the TPF Featherweight Championship.
