Clayton Ruby Obituary

Clayton Ruby, one of Canada’s best and famous civil rights lawyers, passed away on August 2, 2022. He was aged 80.

February 6, 1942, Toronto, Canada, Ruby is survived by Superior Court Justice Harriet Sachs, and two daughters – Kate and Emma Ruby-Sachs.

How Did Clayton Ruby Die?

Ruby died peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family.

His death was confirmed by his law firm Ruby Shiller Enenajor DiGiuseppe.

“Clay was a dedicated advocate for human rights, a champion of the underdog and a loving friend.

“Our thoughts are with his family and our entire firm mourns the loss of our leader and mentor,” his law partner Stephanie DiGiuseppe, wrote on Twitter.

Clayton Ruby Life And Career

Ruby handled several notable cases while he was alive, such as the Michelle Douglas case, which put a stop the long-term discrimination against LGBTQ2+ in the military, as well as many other cases related to abortion rights.

Ruby attended the University of Toronto law school and was called to the Ontario bar in 1969.

He bagged his law degree from the University of California (Berkeley), and has been running his private law firm for over 5 decades.
