Claude Fournier (filmmaker) obituary

Canadian filmmaker, Claude Fournier has been reported dead by close sources and family. He died on Thursday, March 16, 2023. He was 91 years old. He died after heart complications at the University of Montreal Hospital Center after suffering a heart attack during a trip to Martinique. His twin brother, Guy Fournier, shared the incident leading to his brother’s death.

“It’s hard to lose your twin brother. We spent our life together for our anniversary and I told him; ‘I’m not sure we’re going 92. He asked me: ‘Why are you saying that?’ I answered him, ‘I don’t know, it’s a feeling that I have.’ So I don’t know if I’m going to surrender, but he won’t have surrendered” his twin brother, Guy Fournier said.

He added that Claude was on a vacation with his wife Marie-Jose Raymond and a few friends in Martinique.

Returning to Montreal, Claude Fournier’s doctor friend again advised him to go to the hospital but the filmmaker refused, pleading that a night’s sleep would put him back onto his feet.
