Paul Hasegawa-Overacker is a French-born American filmmaker and artist who was in a relationship with Cindy Sherman in the 1990s. He is also known as Paul H-O and is the creator of the documentary film “Guest of Cindy Sherman” (2008), which explores his personal and professional relationship with Sherman.

Cindy Sherman enrolled in the visual arts department at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo in 1972 where she began painting, later switching her major to photography.

Following her graduation from SUNY in 1976, Cindy Sherman began work on Untitled Film Stills (1977–80), one of her best-known series. Cindy Sherman and David Byrne were members of Portugal’s Estoril Film Festival’s jury in 2009.

Cindy Sherman ventured into the fashion industry with designs for Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, and Marc Jacobs. Cindy Sherman created photographs for an editorial in Harper’s Bazaar in 1993.
Cindy Sherman has participated in numerous international events, such as SITE Santa Fe (2004); the Venice Biennale (1982, 1995); and five Whitney Biennials.
Cindy Sherman serves on the artistic advisory committee of the New York City-based Stephen Petronio Company and the Artists Committee of the Americans for the Arts.
