CID Requests Audio and Video Tapes from Accra FM Journalist Following Hopeson Adorye’s ‘Dynamite’ Interview

The Accra Regional Police Command has requested assistance from Class Media Group’s Accra100.5FM regarding its investigation into statements made by Hopeson Adorye during an interview on the station’s political talk program ‘Citizens Show.’

Adorye claimed in the interview that he detonated dynamites in the Volta Region to intimidate supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) during the 2016 elections.

A letter signed by ACP Nana Kwaku Duah, Regional Crimes Officer, dated Thursday, 23 May 2024, states: “The regional criminal investigations department has commenced investigations into the alleged statements made by Mr. Hopeson Yaovi Adorye in a program dubbed ‘Citizen Show’ hosted by Nana Otu Darko on 2 May 2024.”

The letter continues, “It would be appreciated if the host could be released to report at Accra Regional CID on Friday, 24 May 2024, at 10 am with a copy of the audio and video recording of the aforementioned program to facilitate investigations.”

Mr. Adorye was granted a 20,000 Ghana cedi bail on Thursday, May 23 2024 following his arrest and detention on Wednesday.

During his time in custody, he was visited by independent presidential candidate and leader of the Movement for Change, Alan Kyerematen. Both Kyerematen and Adorye left the NPP before the party’s presidential primaries.
