Chude Nnamdi, a Nigerian political activist, voiced concerns about the economic challenges in Nigeria, stating that earning a salary of N200,000 is akin to being unemployed.

His remarks followed Air Peace airline boss Allen Onyema’s assertion that Nigerians with a N200,000 salary live better than those earning £2000 in the UK.

In a series of social media posts, Chude highlighted the worsening poverty in Nigeria, exacerbated by soaring inflation rates in 2024 compared to the previous quarter.

Contrary to Allen’s statement, Chude argued that a N200,000 salary barely covers basic living expenses, let alone provides comfort.

He emphasized that a significant portion of Nigerians live in poverty, debunking the notion that N200,000 equates to a $2000 salary in the US.

Chude underscored the challenges faced by families, where even N50,000 struggles to sustain them for two weeks due to high costs of living, such as expensive cooking gas and utility bills.

His remarks shed light on the harsh realities experienced by many Nigerians amidst economic hardships.
