Chuck Carr, a former Mets outfielder who played for the team in 1990 and 1991, passed away on November 13, 2022, at the age of 55. According to family social media posts, Carr was battling health issues.

Carr spent eight seasons in the majors, leading the National League with 58 stolen bases for the expansion Florida Marlins in 1993, after appearing in only 16 games for the Mets the previous two seasons.

During the strike-shortened 1994 season, the speedster stole 32 bases. He provided one of the most memorable sports quotes of the decade in 1997, when he ignored a take sign to swing on a 2-0 pitch and made an out. “That ain’t Chuckie’s game,” Carr said after the game. Chuckie scores 2-0.”
He was demoted to the minors, refused his assignment, and was released from the team. Carr was acquired by the Astros and homered off John Smoltz in Game 3 of the 1997 National League Division Series.
