Christine Sinclair Parents: Meet Sandra Sinclair, Bill Sinclair

Christine Sinclair is a Canadian soccer legend. She is the daughter of Sandra Sinclair and Bill Sinclair.

Her father, Bill Sinclair, and uncles, Brian and Bruce Gant, were all Canadian amateur football champions, with Brian and Bruce also playing professionally.

Christine Sinclair’s father Bill, was a Pacific Coast Soccer League player for the University of British Columbia and the New Westminster Blues. When Christine Sinclair  was young her mother Sandra was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.

Due to her mother Sandra fight multiple sclerosis, she has been active in fundraising for research and treatment of the disease since 2017.  Christine Sinclair’s mother died in February 2022, prompting her to write Playing the Long Game: A Memoir, her first comprehensive account of her life and career.

In June 2023, she appeared on NBC’s “My New Favorite Futbolista” podcast to discuss her mother’s longtime battle with multiple sclerosis. “My mom lived with MS for 40 years and, as a kid, I saw her battle,” Sinclair said on the podcast.

“I saw her struggle. I saw her never give up. I saw her face the world bravely. She taught me a lot of perspective in life…Those days when I thought I was having a bad day. In the grand scheme of things, I have nothing to complain about.”
