Dennis Farnon co-founded the Academy in 1957 with Sonny Burke, Lloyd W. Dunn, Paul Weston and Jesse Kaye. Farnon worked for RCA. Dennis Farnon passed away in May 2019 at the age of 95.

Farnon was born on June 24, 1925, in Chicago, Illinois, and attended post-secondary business school in Los Angeles.

Farnon began her career as an event producer for the first annual Grammy Awards in 1959. Farnon held the position of executive vice president near the end of her career, from 1989 until her retirement in 1992. Farnon was the first woman to receive the Grammy Trustees Award after retiring.
Christine Farnon died of natural causes on Monday, October 24, 2022, in the Los Angeles area. She was 97 years old.
