Christine Farnon Cause of Death

Christine Farnon, the Recording Academy’s first full-time employee and one of its longest-serving, died of natural causes on Monday, October 24, 2022, in the Los Angeles area. She was 97 years old.

Farnon worked for the Recording Academy in a variety of capacities. She was appointed executive director of the Los Angeles chapter in the early 1960s.

She was promoted to national executive director in 1971 and executive vice president in 1986, a position she held until her retirement.

Farnon spent more than 20 years studying painting after retiring, and she received three commissions for her work, as well as recognition from the Chatsworth (Calif.) Fine Arts Council.

Farnon is survived by Joanna, her daughter, as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.
