Christina is the daughter of John McHale and Margarita McHale. Her father is an Irish -American, while her mother is Cuban.
She graduated from Upper School of the Englewood Cliffs Public Schools as the eighth-grade valedictorian in June 2006.

McHale began professional training at the USTA Training Center in Carson, California and turned pro in 2010.
